Presentation Primary School Waterford

A great tradition of education in Waterford since 1798

First Class

Mrs Mullally and Ms. Shiel

November was a very busy month in 1st class Ms Shiel and Ms Mullally. We were doing games in PE and practiced skipping, ball games and we even did some yoga and dancing in the classroom.

We were learning all about homes in SESE and we got to play with the dolls houses which was lots of fun. We learned about owls in class and we learned about Camels during a sustainability workshop.
We did lots of reading and listened to all the lovely fairytales. We did some making and creating too. We made delicious smoothies which tasted so good. We also worked with our buddies to make slime.

October has flown by in Room 6!
Four girls in our class received medals for their Summer Stars reading with Waterford Libraries. Well done to Lareen, Revan, Freya and Mathilda!
We loved watching the panto “Beauty and the Beast” in the hall, and we had visit from a local Garda to our class. We also had four weeks of gymnastics for PE.
We did lots of hands-on work with numbers for maths, as well as with 2d shapes and time. We practiced our spellings by making them out of play dough.
We did lots of different work about Autumn, making “Leaf People” art and reading about animals who hibernate.
Then we had lots of fun getting ready for Halloween, chatting about costumes and keeping safe. We made witches for art and chocolate apples with our Fresh Today snacks. We cut up a barmbrack and Naomi got the ring! We dressed up for our last day and had a party. We have had a great, productive time so far in First Class and we have really earned our week off!

September…

We have been busy in Room 6, working hard and having lots of fun with our friends. We’re getting to know both our teachers, Ms Mullally and Ms Shiel, as well as our SNA Ms Norris.
We met buddies in Ms Mundy’s class and Ms Power’s class for Friendship day and we all went to Walsh Park for cross-country trials. We were so proud of Gracie, Lottie, Freya, Isabelly and Eve who qualified to represent the school in the RSC. Gracie and Lottie even brought back medals!
We had the theme “Myself” in lots in different subjects, drawing self-portraits and family timelines, as well as learning about our Five Senses. It was great fun doing the activities for the senses of smell and touch!
We’ve read lots of stories like The Little Red Hen, Ants in Your Pants, The Very Hungry Caterpillar. We love to move as much as we can so we had fun doing yoga in class and PE in the hall.
Have a look at our photos, including those from our first day in First Class!
