February…

We had great fun last Friday when Red Little came to visit our school and put on a fabulous show for us. Our very own Kate and Amina got the opportunity to take part in the show . They did a great job! Well done girls. Well done to Ella, who got the Principal’s award for her acts of friendship this month!

January…

A New Year and a new topic to explore !This month we have been embracing the cold weather and have been learning  all about the cold climates of the Polar Regions. The girls have loved exploring the Antarctic like  the explorer Tom Crean and learning about Emperor Penguins. We also learned about the Arctic circle, Polar bears and the Inuit people who live there. We even carried out experiments to test how blubber helps keep these animals warm and we made our very own chocolate penguins.
As the weather is a little cold at the moment we decided to make bird feeders to help the birds that fly in and out of our school garden.

December…

The girls are eagerly awaiting the arrival of Christmas and have been busy preparing their Christmas cards, we even took a trip to the post box to mail them with our buddies.
We had a lovely treat this month when we had our very own Movie day in school. The girls had a great time and no movie would be complete without some popcorn and sweet treats !
We enjoyed singing our Christmas songs for everyone to hear. Click here to watch our performance.

November…

Our topic this month was Night  and Day and Space. The girls were really interested in learning about nocturnal animals, the planets and how night and day occurs. We also celebrated Science week with a science fair in the halla with our 6th class buddies. We examined electric circuits, how rockets move and what plants need to grow. Finally we examined 2D shape in our environment.

October…

We had a lovely treat to welcome the beginning of October!

The girls enjoyed a performance of the pantomime – Beauty and the Beast. There was lots of dancing and singing and great fun was had by young and old alike!

This month we are learning about- All things Autumn and Harvest.

Last Friday we engaged in an Autumn hunt. Even though the weather didn’t play ball, we didn’t let it stop us finding lots of signs of Autumn around our school.

Well done to Ella and Fiadh on completing the Summer Stars programme over the summer.

Spooky goings on in Room 5, making mummies and witches potions ! Happy Halloween from all of us in Room 5.
Autumn Aistear- fun on the farm , making chocolate apples, making scarecrows and leaf rubbings

September…

September has been a busy month here in Room 5. We have spent the month getting to know one another and settling into a new school year.  We have explored the topics of Myself and School. The children enjoyed exploring how they are growing and changing and created impressive Self- Portraits of themselves.

Friendship Day’ (18th of September).

A day where we explored and put into practise all we know about being a good friend. The girls also got to reconnect with their buddies. The girls are excited to work closely with their buddies throughout the school year.
