November…

6th Class led the Science Week fairs for Infants to Fourth Class in the hall. We are just coming on to our last week of swimming. We are really enjoying Creative Mindfulness with Bernie Woods.

6th class practiced their teaching and leadership skills during the month of November. They led the science week fairs for the junior infants and senior infants and did a super job taking them through different experiments.
They also created their own circuits to light the antenna of a robot. They had so much fun completing this project.
They completed a sustainability workshop and made some beautiful camel masterpieces.
They played a huge role in the Presentation Day Choir and are really enjoying their creative mindfulness sessions with Bernie Woods.
We also entered a competition with RtE News Today where we made posters about what our Christmas wish would be. The girls put a huge amount of effort into this . We were disappointed that we did not win the competition.
On the last week of November we designed our advent calendar to get us ready for the upcoming festivities.

October…

We had a jam packed October in Rm.17 We started off with a zoom for space week which we really enjoyed and learnt lots about space.
As we are deciding what secondary school we would like to go to , we were invited to St Paul’s Secondary School for a day. Here we got to take part in PE , Science , Woodwork, Home Ec and Art. We really enjoyed our day in St Paul’s.
We had some great fun for maths week and we designed posters about maths facts that we see every day in our school. Anna won the whole school competition for this and we were very proud of her. We also did some fun maths to find the mean mode and median of some sets or Oreo’s and also skittles. We took our knowledge outside and set free some balloons and calculated the mean , more , median distances of these also.
For the months of September and October , we completed a project about ourselves and we held our very own diversity day. We learnt all about the girls in our class and celebrated how we are all unique and different. We even got to try some Brazilian cake from Amanda , some Ukrainian treats from Milana , Indian banana cake from Nandhana and Gracie and Lucy treated us to Tayto Blaas. We had a gorgeous afternoon.
For Halloween we decorated some Halloween cupcakes and I think we might have some upcoming decorators/ bakers in Rm.17.
In PE , we designed obstacle courses in groups and stepped into Miss Fortune’s shoes to teach our peers , we had great fun
We were also busy learning about the Babylonians and we completed a project of a 3D construction of the Hanging Gardens of Babylon.
We have had a great October in 6th class.

September…

We had a nice smooth sailing beginning to sixth class in Rm.17 as we are all in the same classroom with Miss Fortune again.
We have loved our start to 6th class, we have been very busy already. We have began preparation for our confirmation and have started to attend Mass in St.Pauls Church on a Friday.
We have learnt a huge amount already from testing out our lung capacity to reaching the millions in maths , we focused on counties and rivers in geography and learnt all about how to speak and write about our families in Gaeilge. We were very interested in the history of 9/11 and found ourselves feeling very grateful for all we have afterwards. We were reunited with Conor for Ukulele and completing some lovely artwork based on Picasso, 9/11, ourselves and also mixed some primary colours to design some zebras.
We stepped into Miss Fortune’s shoes and taught our classmates some obstacle courses that we designed.
We took a trip to the our neighbours in Presentation Secondary School and took part in some activities and subjects that we will be doing next year. We also took a trip to our local city and completed a walking tour of the city where we saw some historical places in Waterford , we ended our morning in the Granery for some Hot Chocolate. We also celebrated survived our first week of 6th class with a mindful morning where we played with Play-Doh and had some nice biscuits.
We have had a flying start to 6th class and we are very excited for what is to come for our last  year in Presentation Primary School.
